The Church As A Nation.
CHURCH AS A GLOBAL NATION
The bible is a great book that allows us to see the mind of
God over generations in the earth. One of the major topics
addressed in the bible is “The Kingdom of God in the
earth”. The implication of this great theme of the bible
cannot be fully understood without the frame work of the
church becoming a global nation or a borderless kingdom
community that spreads in all nations of the earth.
The great divine project of restoration process of the
human race is initiated by the call of Abraham in Genesis
12
Gen 12:2-3
2 "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless
you;
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you
I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed
through you."
The original intent of God is to develop a great nation in
the earth using a generation after Abraham that will be a
blessing to the other nations in the earth. The story of
the bible is a technology of how God intends to develop
this great nation or global community that will be a
blessing to the world.
Under the new covenant the children of Abraham are those
doing or being embedded to the functionality of Abraham.
The children of Israel claimed to be the legitimate
children of Abraham based on biological lineage but Jesus
redefined the state of being the children of Abraham and
made the former definition obsolete by declaring those who
held such opinion as children of the devil.
John 8:33- 44
33 They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and
have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we
shall be set free?"
34 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins
is a slave to sin…
37 I know you are Abraham's descendants. Yet you are ready
to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am
telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and
you do what you have heard from your father."
39 "Abraham is our father," they answered.
"If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you
would do the things Abraham did. 40 As it is, you are
determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth
that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41
You are doing the things your own father does."
"We are not illegitimate children," they protested. "The
only Father we have is God himself." ...
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to
carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the
beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth
in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he
is a liar and the father of lies.
The church has to understand that we are the true
descendants of Abraham and this promise has to be
actualised through us.
Gal 3:7-9
7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of
Abraham. 8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the
Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to
Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." 9 So
those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the
man of faith.

The issue of the nations being blessed through us implies
that the church that is found in the mind of God is able to
provide solutions to the crisis that mankind has found
itself in.
Our challenge is to compare this church that is in the mind
of God and with the current status of the church in our
time. Any variance has to be addressed as a matter of
urgency and realign our church systems and doctrine to what
is in the mind of God.
This type of a church was prophesied by Isaiah
Isa 2:2-3
2 In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will
be established
as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the
hills, and all nations will stream to it.
3 Many peoples will come and say,
"Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his
ways,
so that we may walk in his paths."...
If we understand the Lord’s temple to mean the church in
the last days, which is our time, then it is God’s will and
expectancy that we be established as chief among the other
nations so that all the other nations and kings can flow to
us for ways of life or systems of operations in all
dimensions of life. This puts pressure on the current
church leadership to re-evaluate our current church systems
and seek to have systems established that will endeavour to
offer solutions to the current crisis in the earth.
In response to this demand, there have been global
initiatives to develop global networks entrusted with
coming up with workable and working systems that are based
with principles of the kingdom of God and that can be
exported to the kings and the nations of the earth. Such
global networks include:
1. Networking of individual local churches irrespective of
their legal registration affiliations with an aim of
forming a base of recruiting, teaching, developing and
equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry which
is seen as their ability to design and develop systems of
life that can interact and attract the nations of the earth
to the kingdom of God.
2. Networking of Christian professionals and in the world
with an aim of presenting the world with a new level of
integrity and character that is in built into the lives of
all of our professionals. The professionals in form
sub-networks of individual disciplines form regional
consortia that can interact with the world market and
nations as they display the manifold wisdom of our God.
Such groups of professionals can design systems that can be
channels of transferring the wealth of the world to the
kingdom of God.
3. Networking of businesses and “Para-church” organizations
with an aim of forming a global economic force that will
have significant impact to the global social-economics.
4. Networking of Christian students that are in all the
universities with an aim of giving them an environment of
development that will make them a breed of modern leaders
who have the understanding of the ordained prophetic
destiny of nations in the earth.
The list can be long but the issue is to have a community
in the earth that considers itself as a global borderless
nation drawing its identity from the will and the purposes
of God in earth. As a nation we require to have systems
that define a nation in the modern times. This word means
more than what we know as political nations in the earth.
Microsoft, Coca-cola and other multinational organizations
can equally be referred to as strong nations in the earth.
Their world is any place where they have influence or
impact into the behaviour and the operations of life.
In the same argument the church is a nation in the earth if
we are able to make our members to interact in their own
areas of normal lives thereby creating synergy in our
mission of bringing Christ to all the individuals living in
the earth. The present mode of operations of the church
cannot be able to actualise this goal without a radical
reformation in the structures and the operations of the
church.
We will need to do more than having our good Sunday
and crusade meetings. The present division among the
different denominations or ministries is a great hindrance
to the bringing of the saints to the expected unity of
faith and maturity of the body of Christ. This is an area
that needs special prayers and deliberate conscious
initiatives into designing new systems of church structure
and operating systems that can deliver to our God what He
expects to see in the earth.
This should be done, and must be done because if it is not
done then this generation will be done; causing God to
package this generation to the oblivion of history and to
look for another generation that will have the capacity to
deliver to Him in accuracy what He expects to see in the
earth.
